"Discover the Best Bars in Tokyo: A Cocktail Bar Guide"

No amount of physical contact could match the healing powers of a well made cocktail.
— David Sedaris

Hi there Stylish Friends,

Tokyo is renowned for its vibrant nightlife scene, offering an eclectic mix of bars and clubs that cater to all tastes. While many places offer 飲み放題 (Nomihoudai aka all you can drink), you sometimes require a bit more quality over quantity, a bit more sophistication, a Mixologist rather than a person just serving you drinks.

In this blog post, I will write about the best cocktail bars I have visited in the city: THESE, Triad, SG Club, Boctok, K-Julep, Bar RADIO, The Bellwood, Inc. Cocktails, and Roku Nana. And if this isn’t enough, I also wrote about bars off the beaten path. and I keep posting new updates on my instagram

Library Lounge THESE

THESE is a bar located in Roppongi and is a real gem. When I visited I wanted to have a drink at the counter but we got placed at a seat upstairs instead. the vibe is fantastic and is one of those few places where you can chill without the worry of time or noise. it’s lively enough not to be awkward, but quiet enough not to have to yell at your friends.

Bar Triad

Together with Bar Tram and Bar Trench, Triad is an excellent series of specialized cocktail bars located in the fancy Ebisu area. Go here for a lively place with an approachable vibe. I noticed a lot of bars have bartenders who have certain expectations of their customers, but here it is a bit more relaxed in that sense. their cocktails are very well done and the bartenders are more than willing to chat a bit about what they are creating and what they recommend to you.

The SG Club

SG Club, Founded by Shingo Gokan’s famous bar team, has won many awards for best bar and is one of the most popular cocktail bars in Shibuya. Renowned for its energetic atmosphere and diverse range of unique cocktails. The bar is spread over two floors, with an energetic bar on the ground floor and a more chilled-out lounge area downstairs. Their most famous drink is probably the Piña colada, which comes in a real pineapple!

I recommend going here for a good night out with a (Small) group of friends. Dates are of course a good thing too but keep in mind that it can get a bit louder than the average cocktail bar.

Boctok

For a more intimate bar, I can recommend this place located in the back of the Roppongi area. The bar has a relaxed atmosphere and is the perfect place to unwind after a long day. The drinks menu is extensive, with a wide range of cocktails, beer, and wine available. The bar is very hidden so you won’t see random drunks inside, but make sure to give them a call before you go because they are quite popular!

K-Julep

Roppongi’s K-Julep is another popular venue in the city center of Tokyo, offering a lively atmosphere and a great selection of drinks. The bar has a bit of a retro feel, with bright red decor lights being the main theme of its ambiance. K-Julep is particularly known for its fruit cocktails, offering various season specials to keep things spicy and fun. I think this bar is great to visit with 1 or 2 friends or just by yourself!

Bar RADIO

Bar RADIO is a stylish, upscale bar located in the trendy Omotesando area. The bar has a chic, minimalist design, with fancy seats, an amazing collection of special glasses, and a sleek bar. The drinks menu is impressive, with a wide range of cocktails, wine, and champagne available. Bar RADIO is the perfect place for a sophisticated night out in Tokyo.

As is common in Japan they have a table charge, but they give you a plate of delicious fruits and crème cheese to make up for it.

Address: 〒107-0062 東京都港区南青山3丁目10−34

The Bellwood

The Bellwood is a bar located in the fashion district of Shibuya. The bar is a cool, intimate atmosphere, with a brown wood interior, soft lighting, and a sushi restaurant inside. The drinks menu is extensive, with a range of excellent and unique cocktails on offer. The Bellwood is particularly known for having a sushi restaurant inside the bar. The restaurant is tiny and in a separate area, so you won’t even notice it’s there until someone tells you what is going on in that other room. A very unique twist to the idea of a bar.

Roku Nana (六七)

Roku Nana is easily the most hidden bar on this list. Located in the residential part of the night district Roppongi, this bar is a real gem. Excellent vibe, great cocktails, and is very spacious, meaning you can easily hang out with a bigger group. They have terras seats too, which is great in the summer.

Long story short, Tokyo offers a vast array of excellent drink options, with something to suit everyone's tastes. Whether you're looking for a high-energy bar or a relaxed lounge, there's a venue for you. SG Club, Boctok, K-Julep, Bar RADIO, INC Cocktails, Roku Nana, and The Bellwood are just a few of the many great options available in the city.
