Exploring Tokyo's Unique Car Spots: Exotic, Classic and JDM Meets

Hi there Stylish Friends,

Tokyo is one of those famous cities known for its car culture. Beyond its iconic skyline and bustling streets, Tokyo hides a subculture of automotive appreciation that's best experienced through its renowned car spots. From the legendary Daikoku Parking Area (PA) to the trendy Tsutaya Daikanyama, let's embark on a virtual journey through Tokyo's most exciting destinations for car lovers.

The Prince Park Tower Hotel Garage

This hotel is located in the park near the famous Tokyo Tower. It’s a building with an impressive design (especially the inside!), but, what most people don’t know is that the garage is full of crazy exotic cars. Lamborghinis lined up next to many Rolce Royces is something you hardly see anywhere in the world, and the Japanese took their own twist to this. This is definitely more the spot for exotic car lovers than JDM lovers, but any car enthusiast can appreciate what customizations are done to these cars.

Note that this is a garage of a hotel, so make sure you don’t hang around too long or be too noticeable.

Daikoku Parking Area (PA)

daikoku pa for JDM car fans

The mention of Tokyo's car scene would be incomplete without paying homage to the legendary Daikoku PA. located beneath the imposing Yokohama Bay Bridge, Daikoku PA is more than just a parking area; it's a gathering spot for car enthusiasts from all walks of life. Here, you'll witness a crazy amount of modified and rare vehicles that are a testament to Japan's car culture. From sleek sports cars to customized drift machines, Daikoku PA is a mecca for those who appreciate the art of driving and engineering. The area has tons of vending machines so grab a drink and walk around to enjoy the people who are passionate and more than willing to have a chat about their rides.

Note that this is exclusively accessible by car, so you need to either own a car or rent one. Taking a taxi there will work but going back will be nearly impossible if you do not speak Japanese.

Akihabara UDX

Akihabara is renowned as the electronics and anime district, but it also holds a surprise for car enthusiasts. Akihabara UDX, a relatively new building right next to the station, features a rotating display of JDM cars that reflect the city's online spirit. You might stumble upon futuristic concept cars, electric vehicles, and even prototypes from leading Japanese manufacturers. It's a unique opportunity to witness the intersection of technology and automotive design up close. This is definitely a location with one of the most unique cars out there.

Gaienmae

Gaienmae, nestled near the expansive Meiji Shrine and the Olympic stadium, is another spot where people flex their rides. The broad streets and elegant surroundings make it a favored destination for car enthusiasts to showcase their vehicles. On weekends, you're likely to find a variety of classic cars, luxury vehicles, and meticulously maintained imports on display. The mix of automotive beauty against the backdrop of Tokyo's greenery and famous ginko trees. This spot is especially popular during the autumn when the leaves are yellow and it becomes a popular date spot. Got to keep the lady happy while driving your dream car I guess?

Let’s hope the area remains intact as there are plans for redevelopment.

Tsutaya Daikanyama

daikanyama car enthusiast spot

Daikanyama T-SITE near the Tsutaya bookstore is a parking lot that seamlessly combines literature, culture, and cars. People usually meet up here on Sunday mornings. I guess it is a good location to meet up, grab a drink at Starbucks, and then go for a drive together. Tokyo has a lot of very wealthy people, and it shows in the type of cars you can see in areas like Daikanyama. The parking area and the surrounding streets are full of a large e variety of classic, exotic, and JDM cars.

There are many more spots that are worth a visit, but I think these are the most accessible ones. other spots are more of a hit-and-miss in terms of the number of cars and timing, so I will leave the rest for another day. Whether you drive there yourself, take public transport, or rent your own exotic car, respect the rules, respect the people, and remember to enjoy
